Fatigue Properties of Aluminum Alloy Sheet Treated with Shot-Peen Forming in Salt-Spray Environment

The effects of shot-peen forming on the fatigue properties aluminum alloy samples were measured with a mechanical testing & simulation (MTS) tester in atmospheric and salt-spray environments. After forming, performance sheet was significantly improved both salt spray environment. Compared detail rating (DFR) value environment, DFR original decreased to 110.82 MPa, decreasing by 4.47%. shot-peen-forming 151.03 11.40%. Fatigue fracture characteristics demonstrate that number crack sources after shot peening. However, corrosion rate test neutral saline environment showed resistance In surface residual-stress analysis there about 30 MPa tensile stress sample, 100 compressive shot-peened sample. Therefore, improvement peening largely due residual introduced alloy.
